SLSO at Powell Hall History
The St. Louis Symphony performs at Powell Hall in the Grand Center Arts district of St. Louis. Powell Hall was originally built as the St. Louis Theatre in 1925. The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra is actually the second oldest symphony in the entire United States. It was founded in 1880 as the St. Louis Choral Society.

The SLSO Youth Orchestra was founded in 1970 and represents students aged 12-22 from over 40 schools between Illinois and Missouri.

Parking at the St. louis Symphony
There are several parking lots in the Grand Center Arts district near Powell Hall including one directly behind Powell Hall. There is also a VA lot on Delmar and the Fox Theatre parking across the street. Depending on how early you arrive there might also be metered street parking available in the area.
What to Wear to the Symphony?
There is no dress code for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, but most people dress in business casual or nicer. You’ll see women in casual to semi-formal dresses during the summer and nice sweaters and pants in the winter. Men usually wear button-up shirts with dress pants and jackets in the winter.
